Ask any dance music fan in today’s day and age and they’ll probably agree with you that the genre of Moombahton is a dead one. Once on top of the Moombah game, Dillon Francis and pal NGHTMRE took on the task of bringing the genre back to life with their joint collaboration titled ‘Need You’. Out on Diplo’s Mad Decent label, ‘Need You’ is a fresh spin on an untouched genre, breathing life into the sound with those classic Dillon sounds, a screeching vocal, and a catchy back melody. The hard hitting, Moombah style drop is built up by a Jamaican accented vocal bit before being slammed with a heavy sub kick and hard hitting melody. Is this the revival of the Moombahton genre? Maybe not, but it sure is a nice reminder of how fun the genre once was. Give it a listen as we’re sure this will be a good one to play with the windows down and the music loud during the summer.
