God damn. There are few collaborations that take my breathe away. This, however, happens to be one of them. Oliver Heldens’ label Heldeep Records has been making huge moves this year, locking down an absolutely insane Bass Line House sound that is just about unparalleled in today’s over-saturated market. What started as a platform primarily for the releases of Heldens and his alias, Hi-Lo, has become one of the fastest rising labels in Dance Music and has featured releases from heavy hitters such as Chocolate Puma, Billy Kenny, and MOTi. Chocolate Puma, returns for the latest release on the imprint, this time alongside the supremely talented veteran Tommie Sunshine.
‘Take The Ride’ is pretty much everything you’d expect in something from Chocolate Puma and Tommie Sunshine. It’s got a powerful back end, that thrives off a fat bass line and off beat kick/hat combo with some mind mending synth patterns, thrown in for good measure, of course. Immediately before the drop, the instrumental cuts, and a deep vocal overcomes the recording booming ‘Baby wants to ride’, and before you know it, there’s more bass in your face than you know what to do with. Undeniably a rump shaker from start to finish, ‘Take The Ride’ from Tommie Sunshine and Chocolate Puma is certainly a lethal dance floor tune.
