The January 2017 edition of SYNTH Radio ushers in a new year of talented artists displaying their mixing to the world through our platform. This year, we’ll be making stops at 12 of the most influential cities in North America in terms of House and Techno music, with Los Angeles being this month’s destination. In the great city of Los Angeles, we find ourselves with talented curator and the founder of True House LA, Joel DeMarzo, on the decks. Founded in 2012, the True House LA label allowed Joel DeMarzo to focus strictly on the music without anyone, or anything, in his way, and with more than 20 years in the industry up until this point, it has proven to be a lethal situation.
Joel kicks things off with the piano rhythms of Pitch Deck’s ‘Le Funk’, a killer tune released on Farris Wheel Recordings, setting the tone for a proper, funk-laden House set. As things begin to pick up, Joel DeMarzo seamlessly mixes in more jackin’ sounds, like that of Gettoblaster’s ‘Street Wise’, while instrumentally driven cuts like ‘The Oooh Song’ by Kevin McKay smooth things out later on. With a finely tuned ear for House music, and a collection of music that could stack up with the best of them, each performance from Joel is fluid, unique, and audibly pleasing, with this month’s SYNTH Radio being no different. Crank up those speakers, get the latest from Joel DeMarzo going, and let us know what you make of the mix!
