Last month I had checked out the first edition of the new Aston Shuffle mix series highlighting the best releases in Dance Music titled Only 100s. After delivering a seriously impressive mix to end 2016, we were eager to check out this month’s edition, to say the least. Upon glancing over the track list, I knew immediately I would be pleased and the mix turned out even better than I’d imagined. With tracks from Bonobo, Jax Jones, Shiba San, Claptone, and Dillon Francis, the duo perfectly belnds the sounds of several styles of music in to one cohesive mix.
The duo leads with the latest from talented Australian duo Pnau and their ridiculously catchy new track titled ‘Chameleon’. Rhythmic vocal chance and piano laden melodies drive the track while groovy low ends add a layer of funk. After working in Bonobo’s ‘No Reason’ alongside Nick Murphy, formerly known as Chet Faker, The Aston Shuffle slides in to the new tune from Jax Jones. Titled ‘You Don’t Know Me’, the tune follows the wildly successful 2016 hit ‘House Work’ and is arguably just as good. With Raye on vocals and a sample from one of Booka Shade’s well known tracks, it’s no wonder this one’s seen major radio play already. Weiss and MK follow with the Dombresky remix of DJ Snake’s ‘Ocho Cinco’ being followed by the Justin Martin remix of Claptone’s ‘The Music Got Me’. Rounding things out with one of Shiba San’s latest hits, ‘Up and Down’, puts the cap on a near flawless mix, one we highly recommend. If you’re on the East Coast this coming February, be sure to check the dates below as The Aston Shuffle will be joing Two Friends and Matoma on tour for a select few dates in Boston, Chicago, and NYC. Enjoy!
