While the obsession with Malaa’s identity may have faded, his music has not. The talented producer has found a home on Tchami’s Confession imprint and has yet to look back. Releases such as ‘Diamonds’ on his debut Illicit EP really put Malaa in the spotlight, while collaboration’s with label boss Tchami titled ‘Prophecy’ solidified his place as one of the game’s premiere talents. This month, we see the return of Malaa with a fresh banger titled ‘Bylina’.
The track title derives from a Russian term meaning an epic battle that is kept alive via word of mouth. The narrative sees Malaa return to the roots of House music to dig up a classic sample while imparting his club-ready sound in a modern remake. ‘Bylina’ is just the latest in what has become quite the impressive back catalog from Malaa, marking one of the harder releases we’ve heard as of late.
