Storied German House duo Milk & Sugar have officially made their first release of 2017. Coming in along side the David Morales 1999 re-edit, the duo put out the rework to their own single ‘Higher & Higher’ in order to celebrate 20 years of making and releasing music as Milk & Sugar. ‘Higher & Higher’ was one of the enigmatic duo’s break through records in their early days and the release will see remixes from Teenage Mutants and Robosonic before all is said and done, as well.
The first two remixes are pure, classic House goodness. Milk & Sugar get right to work looping several instrumentals and creating an early groove centered around the gospel-soaked vocals. Smooth break downs keep think funky and simplistic throughout the majority of this dreamy edit.
David Morales follows with his slightly more upbeat 1999 re-edit. Morales tones down the horns and keeps them alive in the background as they intertwine with the swirling string melodies. Morales lets those same powerful vocals carry his edit, letting them ride the waves of the instrumentals right in to one of the sexiest saxophone solos you’ll ever hear.
