Christian Smith more than delivered on the second remix package to Input>Output this month. The LP came out late last year and was released on his own imprint, Tronic Music, before the first remixes came soon after. For part two, Christian Smith is joined by a cast of talented artists to feature remixes from SHADED, Drunken Kong, Laurent Garnier, and Pig & Dan.
Officially seeing its release on April 24th, the EP leads with the legendary Laurent Garnier’s take on ‘Air Castle’. Garnier gives the original a hypnotically deep twist, boasting lush pads, light hi hats, and driving rhythms.
The Pig & Dan take on ‘Sub Zero’ is to follow. The remix’s eerie synth lines creep in over the dark and sinister percussive patterns while booming sub kicks maintain rhythm in the background.
SHADED, who’s known mainly for his killer live performances (eg. Sci + Tec party this past MMW), brings a unique dynamic to the EP. This spacey edit is soaked in acid-tinged synth lines and infectious low end melodies and rounded out with trippy vocal samples and rugged percussive beats.
Drunken Kong takes the LP’s title track, ‘Input-Output’, to another level in rounding out the remix package. Thumping low ends and high end energies push the track’s tripped out vocals to the foreground, letting it lead the charge.
Be sure to give the EP a listen via Tronic Music on its release date, April 24th.
