UK-based Tech House label Static Music is picking up some steam thanks to a couple of recent releases. Following the release of ‘Stick & Move’ by Phil Weeks last month, Static carries the momentum further with a rhythmic release from 1980 Recordings label owner Dan McKie titled ‘Mad For An Olive’.
McKie digs right in, filling the soundscape with an intricate composition of percussive rhythms before the rolling sub kick comes barreling in. The crisp ring of a constant cymbal lays over the top while a looped vocal fades in and out, echoing over the background. McKie’s lush pads and smooth drums add a tribal touch to the overall track, providing a smooth contrast to the eerie vocals and hypnotic rhythms.
