Drumcomplex and Misstress Barbara - If You Can't Be MineIn 2016 brothers Arnd and Daniel Reichow, better known as Drumcomplex, released their Perfection is in Imperfection album on their Complexed Ltd. imprint. Among the tracks on the LP, a hard-hitting collaboration with Misstress Barbara titled ‘If You Can’t Be Mine’ that saw success well past the LP’s release.

May sees Drumcomplex bring ‘If You Can’t Be Mine’ back in to the spotlight, this time inviting a cast of artists to test their hands at remix duties. The EP kicks off with the original on which a throbbing sub kick is undermined by an array of ominous undertones, groovy melodies, and frantic, looped vocals.

Kaiserdisco steps up to bat first, bringing to the table a deeper and chunkier take on the original. The remix highlights the power of the vocals while balancing it out with a sinister synth and fat bass line.

Roel Salemink and Brooke Powell go one step further with their minimal take. Capable of melting the dance floor at any moment, its rolling bass lines and intricate production are enough to mess with just about anyone. GNTN brings the momentum back with a dynamic and edgy cut. Tantalizing melodies wrap themselves around GNTN’s looped vocal work while a variety of claps, kicks, and hats fill the rest of the soundscape.

The If You Can’t Be Mine EP sees its release via Bush Records on June 5th. The EP is also up for streaming via the Drumcomplex Soundcloud page, posted below.
