Once you’ve been in the industry for as long as Ferry Corsten has, it can be hard to consistently challenge yourself. In order to stay ahead of the game, artists must continue to be innovative and over time need to think outside of the box.
Ferry’s ability to adapt over the years has been no secret. From iconic releases under his System F alias in the late 90s and early 2000s to more recent venture as Ferry Corsten, the Dutch artist has always managed to find success.
In recent years, the art of the album has lost credibility to the digital age and shortened attention spans. Ferry set out to change that way of thinking with his most album to date that touches on just about all of one’s senses.
The story line gives nod to some of Sci-Fi’s greats, most notably HG Wells. Corsten pays homage to more recent works such as The OA and Westworld and tabbed David Harrington Miller of House of Cards to help draft a story board. Hollywood actor Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man and The Exorcism of Emily Rose) helps narrate as the album transitions between first and third person. Blueprint is true conceptual album and because of that the end result is a polished, immersive sonic journey.
The true definition of a body of work that is greater than the sum of its parts, Blueprint is a unique LP from one of dance music’s most polarizing figures.
The Full LP has a total of 17 tracks and primarily HALIENE and Eric Lumiere on vocals. The official Blueprint Album Tour made stops through Shanghai, SW4 in London, and Webster Hall in New York with a headlining performance at Exchange in Los Angeles.
