Released just last Friday, the latest compilation from Mark Brown’s Cr2 Records is already getting solid recognition. The Blue Marlin Night & Day Vol. 11 album was hand selected and mixed by Bruce Hill and Valentin Huedo and features tracks from Philipp Wolf, Eli & Fur, and Dario D’Attis.
Also featured on the compilation is ‘Pen Harty’ by rising London talent Jo-Elle. ‘Pen Harty’ is a chunky vocal anthem that is designed to give dancers a break during sets without sacrificing any energy. Rolling bass lines cut through the increasingly hazy atmosphere whipped up early on by Jo-Elle before a faded vocal creeps in from the background. Crunchy hi hat melodies and a hollowed out, almost tribal, synth fill the track’s cavernous soundscape, rounding out what is overall a quality piece of production. Because of its powerful rhythm and smooth atmosphere, we find these to be one of our favorites on the album.
