I’d be lying if I had said that I wasn’t a big fan of a lot of the disco-inspired tracks coming out as of late. Lately, artists are finding ways to use classic disco and house samples and sounds in a modern fashion, priming it for 21st century club life, and such is the case with the most recent production from Toronto-based Sean Roman.

His latest effort follows up recent releases such as the impressive ‘Yellowknife’ on the Cr2 Records Ibiza Opening Party Compilation.

For this one, however, Roman reworks Alicia Myers’ classic ‘ I Want To Thank You’ in to an energetic, club-ready record. The track’s chunky bass lines and swift hi hats compliment Myers’s silky smooth vocals and the backing piano laden melodies perfectly. Brief breaks in the instrumentals allow Myers the chance to let her vocals shine for a moment, before diving right back in to the rhythmic bass lines and smooth piano melodies. Overall, the rework sees Sean Roman add his distinct touch without comprising the integrity of the track by letting some of the best aspects of the original shine.

‘I Wanna’ comes out this Friday, 6/23, via Dirty Panda Music.
