Just this past week, the Detroit and Chicago based duo Gettoblaster brought their rump-shaking sounds to the increasingly popular Psycho Disco! imprint. The Atlanta-based label, founded by DJ and producer Treasure Fingers, has been on fire as of late with releases from Sly Turner, Codes, and most recently, Buffalo natives, Eyes Everywhere, and keeps the ball rolling with the two-track Jello Booty EP.
‘Jello Booty’ is a fat piece of g house production that should do pretty well on the DJ circuit. Landing somewhere between the warehouse and a block party setting, ‘Jello Booty’ provides the best of both Detroit and Chicago influences rounded out with a unique Gettoblaster touch and a wobbly vocal speaking of thick backsides.
The duo joins forces with Just Alexander for the b-side production, ‘Bubble’. A series of looped vocals, pads, and bass lines deliver a distorted version of reality between drops and, just when you thought things couldn’t get any weirder, the whinny of a horse leads the listener right back in to the rattling bass lines.
