When Jamie Jones speaks, most people these days have learned to listen. When that speech is hand delivered by Jones and Hot Creations resident Nathan Barato, the result is a piece that commands attention.
Such is the case with the artists’ most recent showing. The the two track Cherry’s Revenge EP showcases the best of what each artist brings to the table. The EP’s lead track is centered squarely on a bass line that screams Barato’s name but boasts just the right amount of sexy, soulful Jamie Jones touch to balance the production out.
‘Cheating Chester’ represents a formidable adversary to its worthy a-side counterpart. Powerful kicks and soft hi hats are the first thing to ring through the listener’s ears before a series of high frequencied blips and subdued vocal cuts make their way in. Rolling bass lines are added alongside a plethora of sinister sound effects, churning out an emotional rollercoaster before the track lets out.
