Later this year, Roland and Serato will be releasing the DJ-505 and DJ-202 hybrid drum machine/controllers.
The two new hybrid controllers are cheaper and down-sized versions of the DJ-808, which was released last year, and continues the trend of bringing more affordable products to a larger potential audience.
Both controllers are equipped with 808 and 909 samples to the familiar feel of Serato’s interface to allow for live remixing and editing capabilities. Both models come with two channels instead of four and while the 505 can connect with external hardware such as turntables, the 202 can not. The controllers feature eight sounds in each TR kit: Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Closed Hat, Open Hat, Tom, Rim, Clap, and Ride. In addition, both products come with the Serato DJ software.
