Out just at the end of last month is the latest from NYC house icon Erick Morillo.
The Subliminal Sessions 2017 compilation is a collection of tracks that have embodied the Erick Morillo sound and feel over the years. In order to mark the 20th anniversary of Subliminal, Morillo gathered a collection of tracks from various labels, both old and new, and mixed them in to one cohesive journey.
The mix kicks off with the recognizable ‘Experimental E’ by Eagles & Butterflies. ‘Red Light’, which was the first release on the relaunched Subliminal Soul imprint earlier this year, and ‘Revolt’ by Roland Clark and Harry Romero, respectively, command control of the dance floor early on. Frankey & Sandrino, John Acquaviva, Mark Knight & Green Velvet, and Andrea Olivia all make appearances on this monumental two-CD release.
In 1997 a young Erick Morillo founded Subliminal Records alongside Harry Romero and Jose Nunez. Obviously at the time, they had no way of knowing it would become a staple in the New York City house music scene before taking the national stage shortly after. Now, some 20 years later, Morillo’s career is as hot as ever with 2017 seeing a plethora of releases and gigs, as well as the relaunch of the previously mentioned Subliminal Soul sub-label.
