Buffalo’s favorite house dj is bringing the hurt for September’s edition of his Rufus Gibson Presents series.
This month, Detroit’s own Norm Talley, who made his debut WNY appearance for a young Signal>Noise crew several years back, graces the decks of The Gypsy Parlor for an up-close-and-personal affair with one of the Motor City’s true innovators on September 16th.
As a boy, Norm grew up when Disco and Soul were on its last legs, leaving his teenage years open for the conscious revolution that was dance music in Detroit. His roots lie in disco and soul and while his dj sets are as eclectic as they come, each can be traced back to the soulful rhythms and signature percussion that made his Detroit Beatdown compilations and performances alongside Mike Clark and Delano Smith so popular. To date, he’s got well over 1,000 mixes combined between cassette tapes and CDs.
As usual, cover is just $5 at the door and the party goes until 4:00am.
